In response to very current events, today I’m recommending Where the Streets Had a Name by acclaimed YA author Randa Abdel-Fattah, an upper-level MG title from 2010, reviewed in the link by Elizabeth Bird for School Library Journal. Obviously, this is a tricky and loaded topic. But as this beautiful review of this lovely book makes clear, the story is touchingly, lightly handled (if such a thing is possible). Yes, I read it myself earlier this year; I refrain from throwing my two cents in here because everything I can think to say has been said already, and better.
